He that is guilty deserves death at my hands. By killing the serpent, this my boy will not be restored to life, and by letting it live, no harm will be caused to thee. Therefore, neither art thou, nor am I, nor Mrityu, nor the serpent, nor this old Brahmana lady, is the cause of this child’s death.
