It’s been about 16 years now since I came across this book and I still love to read it to this day. When I was young, probably in middle school, I read the third book and it enthralled me. Though Meredith Ann Pierce has clearly thought through the rules under which her society of unicorns should operate, there is something about this book, the first in the Firebringer trilogy, that doesn’t quite click.
Jan has a big destiny and an even bigger heart.
